The Serbian elementary school (Central) has been here since 17-3. The two story building dates from 1861.The Hungarian elementary school (Zarda) was founded in 1765       According to historical records the first Elementary School for the Serbian-speaking pupils was established in Becej in 1703 and for the Hungarian-speaking pupils in 1765.

      A daily care center for the Hungarian Speaking children was established in 1881 and for the Serbian-speaking children in 1887.

      The first Secondary School was the Trade School which began to work in 1883. Then followed the Civil High School and the Secondary School for Agriculture established in 1913.

The state secondary school opened on November 2, 1925Now the Community of Becej has the following educational institutions:

  • a Daily care center
  • Six Elementary schools
  • an Elementary music school
  • a Special elementary school for slightly retarded children
  • Three secondary schools:
    • a High school of arts
    • a High commercial school (ekotrg@eunet.yu) and
    • a High technical school for mechanical engineering and metal processing.
